Institutions in Bangladesh and The Netherlands are working together to develop higher education, research, and professional training in food safety. As part of the Orange Knowledge Programme Food Safety MSc programmes are developed at BAU and SAU university, collaborative research projects have been completed, and short courses for food safety stakeholders are developed.

During a visit to Bangladesh we have organized, together with our partners and hosts, several workshops and trainings on Integrated approach on food safety in education and research, and facilitated the implementation of a short course for food safety inspectors and officers for the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority.

During the many sessions we enjoyed a lively exchange of experiences with representatives from industry, research and education, stressing the importance of human capacities to support the development of Bangladesh national food control system, as well as supporting food entrepeneurs to produce and market safe food.
